UG School’s annual Science Festival (STEAM)

As part of UG School’s annual Science Festival, a Family Day was held in second grade classes, where students and parents collaboratively built irrigation systems.

UG School’s annual Science Festival serves as a significant educational platform aimed at fostering students’ interest in research and enhancing their practical skills. Within the framework of the 2025 festival, a special initiative was implemented for primary level students—a “Family Day” organized for second-grade classes, with a primary focus on promoting collaborative learning between students and their parents.

During Family Day, students worked together with their parents to construct functional irrigation systems. The activity combined both theoretical and practical components: participants learned basic principles of water supply, recycling, and the efficient use of natural resources. Through this collaborative process, students developed their construction and problem-solving skills, while parents had the opportunity to become actively engaged in school life.

The construction of the irrigation systems was closely linked to core science topics such as the water cycle, conditions for plant growth, and environmentally friendly technologies. During the presentation of their projects, students explained the functional features of their own models, demonstrating an emerging understanding of scientific thinking and technological creativity appropriate to their age.
