Cambridge Primary

The main subjects at Primary level are English, Maths and Science.

a) English language - our approach of language acquisition is English as a second language which means we teach English more by using the language rather than by giving formal instructions. The students acquire language by reading/listening/speaking/writing themselves. For this purpose, Bug Club (internationally recognizes and approved teaching resource) is used together with Cambridge World English textbooks.

b) Science – teaching science in English serves to two main purposes: acquire the knowledge about the nature and enhance the master of English for academic purposes. Together with Cambridge Science textbooks the interactive online resource of Pearson education is used to achieve the subject goals.

Maths – Cambridge Primary Mathematics explores five content areas:

• Number

• Geometry

• Measure

• Handling data

• Problem solving

The curriculum focuses on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships so that learners can apply their mathematical knowledge and develop a holistic understanding of the subject. It provides a solid foundation upon which the later stages of education can be built.

Cambridge Lower Secondary    (grade 7, 8)

Cambridge Lower Secondary develops skills in ten subjects including English, Mathematics and Science. It is designed to help schools deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that suits their context, culture and ethos.

The curriculum sets clear learning objectives and focuses on developing knowledge and skills in all subjects, providing excellent foundations for the next stage of education.

English (as a second language)

What will students learn?

Learners will communicate confidently and effectively and develop the critical skills to respond to a range of information, media and texts. Cambridge Lower Secondary English as a Second Language develops a solid foundation for the further study of English as a Second Language, and for study through the medium of English.

Divided into three stages, the curriculum framework covers knowledge, skills and understanding in five strands:

• Reading

• Writing

• Use of English

• Listening

• Speaking

The curriculum supports an integrated approach to planning and teaching to develop effective communication skills in English. The five strands of the Curriculum Framework, and their respective learning objectives, work together to support the development of knowledge, skills and understanding.

The Use of English strand provides learners with the linguistic features they need to be able to understand and use when engaging with the language receptively (Reading and Listening) and productively (Writing and Speaking). Learners will revisit and engage with language at deeper levels and in different contexts.
