On October 4–5, the world’s largest hackathon — NASA Space Apps Challenge — was held in Zugdidi, Georgia.
Organized in partnership with GITA, the hackathon took place at Zugdidi Tech Park under the theme “Learn, Launch, Lead!”. During the project, participating teams, with the support of mentors, worked on real-world challenges using open data from NASA and its partner space agencies.
This year’s winning team, “Skill Issue,” consisted of our alumni David Tatunashvili and Anton Svarechevski, along with UG School’s 12th-grade student Sandro Mujiri. Their project addressed the challenge “Commercializing Low Earth Orbit (LEO)” and presented an innovative concept — a remote automated workshop “Sateliko”, designed to enable reusable nano-satellite production. The goal of the project is to give students and researchers the opportunity to explore and collect data from low Earth orbit without the need to launch rockets.
UG School is immensely proud of our graduates and student for their outstanding international achievement — once again showcasing the intellect, creativity, and scientific potential of UG students!
